Terms of Use

By creating a Fun Swap account and using the service, you agree to the terms below. These terms cover account eligibility, membership tiers, how long we keep your data, community conduct, and how accounts may be closed or suspended. Please read them before signing up.

Account Requirements

  • You must be at least 18 years old to register.
  • One account per individual. Each email address and mailing address may only be associated with a single account.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.

Membership Tiers

Fun Swap offers two membership tiers. You choose your tier at sign-up and can switch between them at any time from your account page.

Free Tier

  • No payment required.
  • You may participate in up to 2 active swaps at a time. A swap is considered active until its "Send By" (mail deadline) date has passed — at that point the swap rolls off your active count, even if it is not yet closed.
  • Free-tier members may not host, coordinate, or create new swaps.
  • Free-tier members may not create groups. They may still join existing groups (subject to each group's admin approval).
  • If your account sees no activity for 12 consecutive months, it will be deleted. We consider any authenticated page load on Fun Swap to be activity.

Paid Tier

  • Requires an active subscription, billed monthly or annually.
  • You may participate in up to 20 active swaps at a time. The same "Send By" rollover rule applies — swaps drop off your active count as each one's mail deadline passes.
  • You may host, coordinate, and create as many swaps as you like.
  • You may create and administer groups, with no cap on the number.
  • We send renewal reminder emails 30 days and 7 days before your subscription's next billing date so you have time to update payment details or cancel if you prefer.

What Happens When a Paid Subscription Lapses

If your paid subscription ends — because you cancel, a payment fails, or you choose to stop renewing — the following schedule applies, measured from the day your last paid period ends.

  • Immediately: you drop to the free tier. You may still complete any swaps you had already joined, but you are now subject to the free-tier cap of 2 active swaps for any future joins. You can no longer host new swaps or create new groups.
  • 60 days after lapse: any group for which you are the sole administrator will be permanently deleted, along with its members list, group swaps, broadcast history, and group comments. Groups with more than one admin are unaffected — the remaining admins keep running them.
  • 12 months after lapse: if you have not resubscribed or shown any activity, your profile and history will be deleted.

Data Retention

We keep your profile, participation history, ratings, and swap archive for 12 months after your account becomes inactive (free tier) or after your paid subscription lapses. During this window your profile is hidden from public view; if you return and reactivate (or resubscribe), your data is restored immediately and you can pick up where you left off. After 12 months the underlying records may be removed, and your username becomes available for someone else to claim.

Community Standards

  • Treat every other member with respect.
  • Send items that meet each swap's stated requirements by the posted mail deadline.
  • Rate honestly and based on what you actually received. Coordinators are not permitted to dictate when hearts are given.
  • Do not use Fun Swap to send illegal, hazardous, or deceptive items.

Suspension and Restriction

Accounts may be automatically restricted for receiving three or more 1-ratings within a rolling six-month window. Restricted users may still participate in swaps run by others but cannot create new swaps of their own until the window clears. Persistent violations of community standards may lead to manual suspension or banning.

Groups

Each group is run by its administrators. Fun Swap does not mediate disputes inside a group unless they involve the site itself. Administrators are responsible for their group's conduct, membership decisions, and group swaps.

Prohibited Content

The following content is strictly forbidden on Fun Swap, including in your gallery, swap descriptions, comments, broadcasts, direct messages, and any other surface where members can post:

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind.
  • Pornography or sexually explicit imagery.
  • Nudity — Fun Swap is a no-nudity site, including artistic and fine-art nudes.
  • Depictions of violence, gore, or graphic injury.
  • NSFW (not safe for work) imagery generally.
  • Any image whose distribution is restricted by applicable law.

Attempting to upload such content will result in immediate termination of the account without refund, and where required by law, the content and the uploader's identifying information will be reported to the appropriate authorities — for CSAM in the United States, that means a CyberTipline report to NCMEC.

Gallery uploads are automatically scanned. The first time an upload is rejected, you will receive a warning. A second rejection suspends your account.

Billing and Cancellation

  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period. You can cancel any time from your account page; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period.
  • Refunds for partially used billing periods are not offered, but you retain all paid-tier benefits until your current period ends.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the release notes and, when appropriate, emailed to registered members. Continued use of Fun Swap after an update indicates acceptance of the new terms.
